The 2011 Manitoba Lotteries Ladies Golf Classic for Hope is
marking the 15th year
we will be hosting our tournament. The fight against breast
cancer continues, not only within the medical community but
with the emotional support of the well being of women diagnosed
with this devastating disease, at the Breast Cancer Centre of
Hope That is why your support of our tournament is so crucial
to the fight against breast cancer.
All money raised through the annual tournament directly supports
the Cancer Care Breast Cancer Centre of Hope. The Centre informs and assists women
at risk of breast cancer, newly diagnosed patients, as well as their
families. Our funding has been used to construct a comforting Three
Season Room and a tranquil Healing Garden, financed quality of life
programs as well as out reach programs. Our financial support of the
art therapy program has also allowed women to express their feelings
through painting, collage, sculpting and other art forms. One participant
expressed her participation in these words, "As a result of art
therapy, I felt empowered and ready to fight cancer. I feel like a
whole person again."
Women's Golf and Breast Cancer
With one in nine women being diagnosed with breast cancer every
year, it is a disease that affects every family and every organization
in Canada, emotionally, physically or financially. There is
a long standing relationship between women's golf and breast
cancer fundraising in North America. Breast Cancer is the official
charity of the LPGA. The Pink Ribbon Ladies Golf Classic for
Hope is Manitoba's premier golf event, having raised over $415,000
for the Cancer Care Breast Cancer Centre of Hope since its inception.
